More than a cute face...
Our 80+ certified canine therapy teams are more than a cute face and wagging tail. These dogs are fulfilling their destiny to serve their community in a meaningful way. Born and raised to be guide dogs, these pups are highly trained and totally lovable, they just chose to pursue other career interests in therapy work!
Every year, our teams visit over 100 facilities regularly. PACTT dogs and their handlers work with vulnerable populations, including those in specialty courts, senior centers, hospitals, and schools.
Teams provide support to victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, crimes against children, elder abuse, and Grand Jurors in multiple courts and work with juvenile court for youth in three counties. We have expanded our role with Portland Police Bureau to include PPB Training Unit, Detective Unit, Homicide Unit, Sex Trafficking Unit, Role Calls, Behavioral Health Unit, and PPB Dispatch at BOEC (911).
Teams offer comfort to mentally and physically fragile people, traumatic brain injury survivors, first responders, hospital workers, and now travelers at the PDX airport! Our dogs know just how to sooth someone in their time of need. For example, a child struggling with their confidence in reading might just needs a furry friend to listen and not judge. And an anxious traveler might need a kiss from a dog to remind them that there is beauty in the journey. All told our teams support thousands of people every year.
All proceeds from the DoveLewis Golf Tournament benefit this amazing program that brings joy and comfort to so many people every year. We look forward to sharing more impact stories with you at the event.
